Dad's have a key role! - Walk

  • Riverwalk path in East Village, at George C King Bridge (map)

About this Walk

When new dad Abbas learned about the critical first years of childhood brain development, his perspective on his role as a dad was changed forever. In this walk, Abbas and friends from the Downtown Early Childhood Coalition, Cafe Institute, and Calgary Reads, will lead dads, father figures, and their young kids (our focus: 5 years old and under) on a kid-paced, activity-filled journey to learn and experience effective ways to help kids grow and flourish. It’s a great way for dads to meet each other and learn together and enjoy St Patrick’s Island. PLUS we’ll get to visit Calgary Reads’ amazing Children’s Reading Place. It’s an astounding place of learning and possibilities.

Please make sure to pack and bring all the gear you and your children need to walk happily. We will walk through St Patrick’s Island and into Inglewood.

Learning will include: the importance of play and reading, ways to build healthy brain architecture in kids, how to prevent toxic stress while promoting resiliency for future years… so please join us if you are DAD enough!
