Planning Language and Literacy Programming for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

In this workshop, participants will look at language and code-related abilities as they inform literacy education from programming, to planning, to instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners across the age and grade range in both mainstream classrooms and schools for the deaf. Participants will also consider the implications of cochlear implantation, advances in hearing technologies, signed communication, and sign bilingualism on language and literacy learning and development. Examples of instructional strategies, interventions, and resources will be presented and described. This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Connie Mayer and organized by the RCSD Provincial Low Incidence Team.
